Today, people don’t talk about blessings very often. Unless someone sneezes, and then we all say ”God bless you.” So what exactly is a blessing? When God blesses us, it means that he give us what we need, to do what he has created us to do. 2 Corinthians 9:8 tells us that God can bless us so much that we will always have what we need to do his good works. When Jesus blesses the children in Mark 10:13-16, he is showing everyone that children play a very important part in God’s kingdom. With our hearts, our words, and our actions, people of all ages can use God’s blessings to serve God and serve others.
Read about how Jesus blessed the children in Matthew 19:13-15 and Mark 10:13-16. Want to dig deeper and learn more about blessings? Check out James 1:17, Isaiah 41:10 and Psalm 23:1-4.
Keep track of your blessings this week. Create two columns on a sheet of paper. Title one column “How others bless me" and title the other column, “How I bless others.” Each day fill out all the ways God used other people to bless you, and all the ways God used you to bless other people.
