Have you ever been so desperate that you just didn't know what to do? Meet Jairus, a very worried father.
Before You ListenTheme: Serving Others- Jesus the Savior
He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.”
A: A woman who was bleeding.
A: To not bother Jesus anymore, because Jairus' daughter is dead.
A: The girl isn’t dead, she is only sleeping.
Jairus was a desperate man. His daughter lay dying and he needed help. He saw Jesus standing in the middle of a huge crowd and it didn’t matter to him that Jesus was "busy teaching." Jairus was focused on his task. He barged right in and pushed through the crowd until he reached Jesus and “pleaded earnestly” for him to come to his house.
The woman was also desperate. She had been suffering for years and was earnestly seeking healing. Unlike Jairus, she did not make a big scene to get Jesus’ attention. She thought that if she could just quietly touch his clothes, he could heal her. And she was right! But even as busy as he was, Jesus wanted to stop and talk to her too! He commended her faith and sent her on her way, healed.
When you “plead earnestly” to Jesus, are you more like Jairus or the woman? Do you ask loudly or quietly? Jesus has time and power for you either way. Nothing is too hard for him, and he always has time to listen to your prayers.
